When Jaguar came out and said they were going to build an SUV the world’s jaw dropped. Jaguar has never made an SUV before nor would they be using a frame from sister company Land Rover (not exactly the worst place to start). But when Jaguar debuted the F-Pace it’s safe to say we are eating our words. The F-Pace’s striking design begins with the aggressively styled front fascia with optional Jaguar “J-Blade” LED headlights which might be the best-styled headlights on the market. The side profile of the F-Pace is a mix of a traditional SUV combined with a sporty coupe-like design characterized by the tapered roofline. Going around to the rear of the vehicle you’ll see the familiar signature Jaguar taillights and a sporty dual pipe exhaust.
Engine options for the F-Pace are currently limited to two 3.0L V6s with the base V6 producing 340-hp while the supercharged V6 produces 380-hp. A small 2.0L diesel is also available delivering extremely good fuel economy however what we’d like to see is an F-Pace equipped with Jaguar’s supercharged 5.0L V8 good for 550-hp (an F-Pace RS perhaps?). Regardless of engine choice, an 8-speed automatic transmission is standard as well as an AWD drivetrain. These two systems work in tandem to give you perfect traction in any weather controlled by a JaguarDrive control system with six different drive settings ranging from Eco to Dynamic and even a dedicated Snow mode.
The interior of the F-Pace is the perfect mix of sporty design and luxury. A full LCD screen giving you a customizable driver’s panel with easy to read graphics has replaced the traditional cluster gauge. A large touchscreen features the F-Pace’s multimedia system complete with everything from climate control settings to navigational control. Leather seating is standard with beautiful Siena Tan perforated Windsor Leather seats available as an upgradable option. The rear seats are laid out in a traditional bench design with plenty of room for three adults. The interior of the F-Pace is rounded off with an interior mood lighting feature that warms up the cabin with soft pools of light in your choice of ten different colors.
Jaguar has demonstrated with the F-Pace that they are a company capable of true exceptional engineering. With a beautifully sculpted exterior, your choice of three proven engines, and an interior to kill the F-Pace is a brilliant new step for Jaguar. The Jaguar F-Pace competes against the BMW X5, Mercedes GLE-Class, and Volvo XC90.
