The Jeep Wrangler is famous among the off-roading community.  The Wrangler’s notable design is modeled after the Willys Jeep from World War II (although the Wrangler and the Willys Jeep are not actually related in any way). The Jeep Wrangler is characterized by its boxy shape that hasn’t changed much since its introduction in 1986. You have the option to fit your Wrangler with a number of different roof options ranging from a matching color hardtop to a cloth soft top to even no roof at all for those perfect summer days.
The Jeep Wrangler is fitted with a 3.6L V6 that produces 285-hp and 260 lb/ft of torque. Hopefully we will see a new engine in use soon as the current V6 returns fairly poor economy of 17mpg city and 21mpg highway. There are several four-cylinder engines out there which might be good replacements producing the same power figures while also returning much better fuel economy. The Wrangler is home in the backcountry with its standard AWD system and high ground clearance of ten inches giving the Wrangler an impressive 42.2-degree approach angle and 32.3-degree departure angle.
The Jeep Wrangler ‘s interior can be described using one word- utilitarian. Large dials and buttons control all vehicle systems for easier use and a simple instrument cluster gives you an easy to read layout of all vehicle systems. Every Wrangler comes standard with a durable and washable interior with drain plugs so after a long day of off-roading cleaning your interior is as simple as grabbing a hose. There are some nice touches inside however including optional heated leather seating and your choice of three media systems including one that utilizes a 6.5-inch touchscreen, GPS navigation, and satellite radio.
The Jeep Wrangler has been a favorite of off-roaders (and college students) everywhere since 1986 and so long as Jeep sticks to this very successful formula of a simple 4X4 then we will likely be seeing the Wrangler around for years to come. The Jeep Wrangler competes against the Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage, and Nissan Xterra.
