Porsche Panamera
The first generation Porsche Panamera was controversial to say the least. Although there was little doubt of the Panamera’s driving prowess, the exterior design was certainly of the love-it or hate-it nature. This next generation model features a much more angular design than before, most clearly evident by the revised rear hatch. The front end incorporates new active grille shutters for increased aerodynamics and efficiency as well as a full LED lighting system inspired by the 918 Spyder Hybrid. The side of the Panamera features vents behind the front wheels extracting hot air from the engine compartment as well as from the front wheel wells. A new twin-pipe sport exhaust system is standard on the Panamera while a new tri-folding rear spoiler rounds out the refresh.
First being released as a 4S model, the Panamera features a 2.9L V6 engine sending 440-hp to all four wheels. Thanks to that power plant and an all-new 8-speed PDK transmission means the Panamera can sprint to sixty MPH in 4.2 seconds or even four seconds flat when equipped with the Sport Chrono Package. The new Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM for short) allows for instant changes in ride comfort or cornering response. A first for the Panamera, a new rear-axle steering system allows for easier low-speed maneuvering or even for high-speed cornering.
The Panamera is one of the most customizable vehicles as well with a range of options and extras ranging from different colors to layering everything in carbon fiber. The new instrument cluster is most characterized by the central analog tachometer flanked by twin seven-inch LCD screens. These screens are configurable while giving multitudes of data to the driver. A beautiful 12.3 inch touchscreen houses the next generation of the Porsche Communication Management system featuring online navigation, Porsche Connect, smartphone integration using Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and all other vehicle systems. Even the rear occupants feature a screen to access rear climate controls or when equipped- rear entertainment systems. New luxury sport seats front and rear and the steering wheel from the Porsche 918 Spyder round out the interior upgrades. The Porsche Panamera is meant to compete with the Audi A7, BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe and Mercedes CLS-Class.
