The Smart Fortwo is perfect for city-dwellers. Being totally redesigned for 2016, the Fortwo features a new front end that certainly brings some personality to the small subcompact. The new big headlights resemble googly eyes with the new grilles completing the silly yet dopey expression. A new set of LED taillights complete the new refined look. Although the Fortwo looks like it would crumble if you ran into some bushes, it was actually developed with perfect safety in mind. The Fortwo features a full bonded steel chassis that gives the subcompact superb strength and rigidity- something Smart demonstrated by taking two Chevrolet Tahoes and stacking them directly on top of a Smart Fortwo chassis. We call that confidence in what you build.
A new tiny 3-cylinder motor sends power to the rear wheels through your choice of two transmissions- a 5-speed manual or a new twin-clutch automatic. The driving dynamics of the Smart Fortwo are perfectly suited to city driving. It trades speed and acceleration in favor of a turning radius of just 22.8 feet. That small turning radius allows the Fortwo to easily maneuver through traffic and park in even the smallest of parking spaces. It’s impressive fuel economy of 32mpg city and 39mpg highway also makes it perfectly suited for dealing with heavy city traffic.
The Smart Fortwo’s interior is simple but doesn’t look cheap. Large easy-to-use buttons control all aspects of the vehicle ranging from the climate control system to the radio complete with Bluetooth and hands-free calling and music streaming. An optional leather interior can be fitted to give a more upscale look along with a 3.5” color display in the instrument cluster to give the driver a better view of vehicle diagnostics. The Smart Fortwo is meant to compete with the Chevrolet Spark, FIAT 500, and MINI Cooper Hardtop 2.
